Year 3 introduction
Miss Fogg, Mrs Doumarapis and Mrs Craggill welcome you all to Year 3. This half-term, in geography, we are exploring ‘What Makes the Earth Angry’ which is all about volcanoes and earthquakes. This will link with our science lessons in which we will explore ‘Rocks’ (including types of rock, fossils and what soil is). Nearer to Christmas, our Religious Education lessons will be about the question, ‘Why do Christians call Jesus the light of the world?’ and we will also be performing in our Christmas production, ‘Children of the World’. 3MC will continue to learn to play the ukulele in weekly lessons with Durham Music Service and 3DF will start dance lessons each Tuesday with a dance artist from The D Project.
We take bullying very seriously and you and your child are invited to the school’s Anti-Bullying Workshop on Wednesday 13th November.
Reading regularly at home is very important. We ask that the children read with an adult at home, at least three times in the week. We look at their reading records on Friday and then move the children on our class Reading Miles charts. In lessons, we do whole class reading, where we practise reading with expression and find answers in the text, as well as discussing the author’s choice of language.
